Child Care Professional FAQs

What is a Career Pathway Level?

The Career Pathways Level (CPL) provides a common, point-based system for licensing and Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) star rated programs as an alternative pathway to meet the education requirements for a child care staff member or administrator. The CPL uses an approved framework to document formal education, experience, training, and current credentials to achieve one of six professional designations.

How do I increase my Career Pathway Level?

A CPL level can be increased based on your education verified in your OPR profile. Higher education on the progression outlined in the CPL model will increase your level as well as verified professional development to earn a Professional Development Certificate.

How is the number of hours required to earn a PD certificate determined?

The professional development certificate (PD certificate) requirement depends on whether the program is Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) rated and the role the professional holds. Administrator, Lead Teacher and Assistant Teachers are qualifying roles for the PD Certificate calculation, if they are employed at a star rated program. The number of hours required to earn the PD Certificate depends on when the program was star rated and/or when the professional entered a qualifying role, whichever came first.

For more information on the Professional Development requirement view the Provider Technical Assistance Letter 19 8/10/2018

How do I know the status of my submitted document for verification in the OPR?

Once you submit a document in your profile for verification, it goes into a document verification queue. It could take up to 45 business days for documents to be reviewed. Once an OPR associate reviews the document, the status will be updated. If the submission meets verification requirements, the document will be marked as verified. If a document did not meet our verification requirements, it will be marked unable to verify with a note as to why the document could not be verified. If you hover over or click on the “Notes” button, you will be able to view the note that was left. The note will provide details on what additional information is required to meet the verification requirement.

I registered for and completed a training that was listed in the OPR. How do I get attendance verified in my profile?

Attendance verification for training posted in the OPR is completed by the instructor of the training session.  The instructor has 14 days to complete the attendance verification in the OPR.  Attendance verification will be added to the Professional Development tab in your profile.  The OPR does not accept any certificates or in-service forms for any training posted in the OPR.

I attended a training in the OPR and do not have attendance in my profile more than 14 days after I completed the training. How do I get attendance for this training?

If your attendance has not been added to your Professional Development tab in your profile after 14 days, you will need to contact the training organization or instructor.  The contact information for the training organization is available to you by clicking on the “VIEW” button on the specific training  in your Professional Development tab.  Once you are on the training description, scroll down to Event Information to find the sponsor’s name and phone number.

I submitted my background check request but did not receive a JFS 01176.

Individuals will not receive a JFS 01176 notification, only the requested program(s) will receive a JFS 01176. If the program did not receive a JFS 01176, the professional must ensure they selected that program license number when they submitted the background check request. If the program was not selected, the professional can request a new background check and select the program from the search screen within the request.

Please view our resource titled ODJFS Background Check User Guide for more information on how to access the background checks.
