Ohio Administrator Credential

The Ohio Administrator Credential is a pathway for professionals to meet ODJFS Licensing Administrator Qualifications. The Ohio Administrator Credential is based upon the Ohio Core Knowledge and Competencies (CKC) Framework for Program Administrators. The credential is inclusive of the knowledge, skills, and competencies identified in the CKC as best practice.

Who is the Ohio Administrator Credential for?

The Ohio Administrator Credential is for those who do not meet ODJFS Licensing Administrator Qualifications any other way. If you do qualify to be an administrator in any other way listed on ODJFS’s Administrator Qualifications document you do not need this credential, but may choose to obtain the credential. Please review their document to see if you already meet their requirements: Administrator Qualifications

How do I apply for this credential?

To apply for the Ohio Administrator Credential, upload the CKC Self-Assessment in your professional development section of your profile and when the required trainings are verified send an email to support@occrra.org requesting us to review the information.  We then send a copy of the check request form so payment can be mailed in for the credential.

What are the renewal requirements for this two-year credential?

Renewal must be complete every 2 years before the expiration date

Ohio Administrator Credential Level I – Renewal

Training requirement – 25 hours total, select one

Administrator CKC Leading and Succeeding completed training session – 25 hours

or

Level II approved electives – 25 hours

Ohio Administrator Credential Level II and III – Renewal

Training requirement – 20 hours of specialized Ohio Approved training

How can I find and register for the Administrator CKC courses?

For information about the Administrator CKC trainings for the Ohio Administrator Credential, you may contact your local Child Care Resource & Referral agency to ask if they will be offering any of the courses. Please note that the courses are in the process of revision and may not be available.

Level II – Option 1: How can I find and register for the Administrator CKC courses?

For information about the Administrator CKC trainings for the Ohio Administrator Credential, you may contact your local Child Care Resource & Referral agency to ask if they will be offering any of the courses and if they can provide guidance how to be an administrator. Level II – Option 2: How can I find and register for the Aim4Excellence trainings?

For information about the Aim4Excellence trainings, please contact the McCormick Center directly.  McCormick Center

When you have completed their required trainings you will receive a certificate of completion. Upload that certificate to the Professional Development section of your profile.

Are there any colleges that offer a short-term certificate to meet Level II Option 3 requirements?

Yes, for information about a short-term certificate Cuyahoga Community College offers which can be used to meet the requirements of Level II Option 3: Child Care Administration, Short-Term Certificate

When you have completed the required coursework, upload the official transcript from the college to the Education section of your profile.

Ohio Administrator Credential Level III

What are the requirements of Level III?

• CKC Self-Assessment which will determine the personal areas of development
• Any option from Ohio Administrator Credential Level 2
• Associate Degree or higher in an Early Childhood Education or closely related field
